Entrepreneurs: List of Attributes and Success Factors

Entrepreneurs have many personal qualities needed to initiate and maintain a successful business. However, it is not necessary that meets all the characteristics of one person. The following exercise will help you evaluate some of their own strengths and weaknesses, so that you can see that most professional collaboration and development work would be appropriate.

1. Vision – the ability to articulate and see the long-term conditions.

2. Passion – the choice of a business that inspires you and will bring the best of you – and it inspires others to do business with you.

3. Service orientation and relationship skills – an assessment of the quality of customer service and business relationships to build loyalty to the business.

4. Initiative – ability to motivate yourself and work independently.

5. Focus – Keep your eyes on the vision and priorities during times of risk, stress and distractions.

6. Creativity – Giving birth to new ideas to improve productivity, efficiency or effectiveness of the products or services offered by the business.

7. Persistence – stay committed and consistent with the course chosen, although there are no immediate rewards.

8. Adaptability – The entrepreneur knows when to change course as needed under changing circumstances.

9. Time Management – Making productive time, making it more important to success.

10. Strategic and tactical thinking – the management of daily operations and planning for growth, while giving the benefit of your service or product.

11. Financial strength – the ability to weather the inevitable ups and downs, while giving the building its business.

Cut and paste the list of qualities in a spreadsheet, and reflects on your level of confidence and strength in each area. If you want you can add some other qualities of entrepreneurs that come to mind. Choose a measurement system that works for you, and plus / minus or a scale of 1-5.

What patterns do you see? What strengths could be taking advantage more often? What are the weakest areas which require support or training business or entrepreneurs? For example, if multiple activities is not your strong point and you dislike tracking data, consider hiring an assistant. If you are not a strategic thinker and just want to focus on serving customers, find a partner who loves the long-term planning.
